Why did I have to pay 15.3% taxes on cash wages for household employee? I thought I only had to pay half.
As a household employer, I thought I only had to pay half of the 15.3% taxes for a total of 7.65% (SS 6.2% + Medicare 1.45%). So on my employees W2, I reported SS withheld of 6.2% of her wages and Medicare as 1.45% of her wages. But on my Schedule H form, Turbo tax filled it in for the total 15.3%. What am I missing or what did I do wrong?
