Do you want to report the estimated tax payments you paid in 2016?
The fastest way to navigate to the estimated taxes section in the Online product is with this shortcut:
- Log in and go to your 2016 Tax Timeline.
- Choose "Take me to my return" (continue your return.)
- When the return is open, click at the top right corner on the Search tab.
- Enter quarterly without quotes.
- Choose Jump to quarterly.
- You will come to a screen "Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid".
- The first topic is "Estimated Tax Payments."
- Choose the category(s) for the type of tax payments.
When you later review your return, the Federal estimated tax payments should show up on your Form 1040, Line 65.
If
you entered state estimated tax payments, then step through the State
interview to be sure they transfer over to the state side.
