You may be able to claim your daughter and grandchildren as a Qualifying Relative dependents if:

  • You provided more than half of their support.
  •  Each made less than $4,050 in gross taxable income. (Social Security income generally doesn’t count here.)
  •  They aren't a dependent on someone else’s taxes.
  •  They are not doing their taxes with a spouse (married filing jointly).
  •  They are  U.S. citizens, resident aliens, nationals, or a Canadian or Mexican residents
