Yikes. So given that this is our first encounter with having to pay in our own taxes, they should be fairly lenient as far as late penalties? We've been trying to ask an accountant for months now on what to do, submitted our 2016 returns to him and everything. He just today responded saying we shouldn't have to pay in anything and still get a refund, due to EIC, Child Tax Credits, etc. And I thought that was really sketchy so I came on here to ask (which I should have done first) and get some real answers.
