That's a no-no! The IRS requires a W-2 be used. People won't necessarily know if they have all the info. There's often all sorts of codes and additional info on the W-2 that may not be on a pay stub. While some people might luck out, you should see all the people in the forum each year who later have to correct something with an amended return.
