If he was on a Work Visa and "lived in US the whole year", the OP is a Resident Alien.
@kk You said your wife lived in the US for all of 2016. What about 2015? How many days did she live in the US in 2015? Does your wife have any income from anywhere in the world? If so, approximately how much?
