If one wants to install from copied files from the CD, it's more than just the setup.exe that's needed. It's not an all-in-one installation file like the download file. The setup pulls from other files on the CD.

I personally would ask TurboTax Support for the download file. Then it will be in your account for at least 3 years. If you ever have to reinstall the program, it will be handy to download and install without going through all the effort to install again from the CD, and it will always be the latest release. The CD will always be Release 1, while the download file is currently Release 9.
