Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If your employer did not withhold taxes you have to enter your earnings as self-employment income on Schedule C. You can deduct any expenses you had against the earnings. You will be considered a business, but you do not have to have a business name. You can use your own name. To enter self employment income:
- Open (continue) your return, if you don't already have it open.
- Inside TurboTax, search for schedule c and click or tap the "Jump to" link in the search results.
- Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? or Did you have any income and expenses for a business in 2017? and follow the onscreen instructions.
If your employer withheld taxes from your cash wages, they are required to give you a W-2. You will need that information to file.
