You are absolutely right, 2017 taxes cannot be e-filed. The IRS closes the door for new e-filed returns in October each year, shortly after the expiration of automatic 6-month extensions.
If your need to file your 2017 taxes, TurboTax still has desktop software to help you.

When you pay for TurboTax Online, you're charged a tax preparation service fee. The prep fee is charged whether you e-file or print your return.
