2016 income that was received in 2016, only goes on the 2016 return.
You can file a late return for 2016 and if that was only job, you will probably get a refund of all the Federal tax withheld in box 2.
You have up to 3 years after the due date of the 2016 return, to file the return or you will lose the refund.
