It will continue to show "ready to mail" for the rest of eternity too. TurboTax has no way of knowing that you actually mailed your taxes. You can check the status of your mailed return 3 to 4 weeks "AFTER" you mailed it, on the IRS website at http://www.irs.gov/refunds.
