@mloleyClearing and starting over probably wouldn't make a difference. Your income did go up quite a bit and there are other factors that trigger AMT, such as high state tax. Since you paid back taxes in 2017 that may have triggered it. You could try using the IRS AMT Assistant to double-check the information.
