Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Mark the option to "mail check." [You don't have to really mail a check since you've made the payment(s) online, but this will allow the extension to be e-filed.]
Be sure to go back into the returns and indicate that you made a payment with the extension.
To report the tax payment you made with your extension, please follow these steps:
- Click on Federal Taxes > Deductions & Credits. [In TT Self-Employed: Personal > Deductions & Credits]
- In the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section, click on the Start/Update box next to Other Income Taxes. [See Screenshot #1, below.]
- Click on the Yes box on the About other income taxes screen.
- On the next screen, click on the Start/Revisit box next to the type of tax payment (Federal, State, or Local extension). [Screenshot #2]
- Enter your payment(s) on the next screen, Payment with Federal [State or Local] Extension for 2016. [Screenshot #3]
