If you are the dependent of somebody you are not related to, you are not required to file a tax return. This is because you have must have made less than $4000 to be a dependent. Generally, the filing requirement is $6300 (for dependents) and $10,300 for non dependents.
But there are exceptions. If your income was from self employment, you must file with as little as $400 of income.
