Health Insurance coverage penalty foreigner with J-1 Intern visa
Hi,
I did a 6 month internship in the US from July to December 2015. I had a J-1 Intern visa and a 6 month health insurance coverage (it was mandatory with the visa). Is it normal that I have to pay penalties for the months between January to June 2015 (due to the fact that I didn't have health insurance coverage at that time) although I wasn't yet working/living in the US at this time (I arrived in July to start the internship) ?
Also, I have a permanent health insurance coverage in France, where I come from. Does it change anything ?
