Get your taxes done using TurboTax
You would need to choose you had coverage part-year unless you were covered under a different plan in January. After you've chosen "I had it for part of 2016." you will have the opportunity to select which months you were covered.
Depending on income and if you had coverage in November and December of 2015, you may or may not be responsible for a penalty.
Then, when asked Were you enrolled in any of these less common plans in 2016? you would need to select Yes, then Continue. Check the box on the next screen for Obamacare plan (1095-A) since you had coverage through the Marketplace. Then, when asked Do you have a 1095-A form to enter for your Obamacare plan? select Yes.
How to find your 1095-A online:
- Log in to your HealthCare.gov account.
- Click the green "Start a new application or update an existing one" button.
- Choose "Go to my applications & coverage" at the bottom of the screen.
- Under "Your existing applications," select your 2016 application — not your 2017 application. It will be below your 2017 application.
- Select “Tax forms” from the menu on the left.
- Download all 1095-As shown on the screen.
If you can’t find it in your Marketplace account, contact the Marketplace Call Center .
