You could claim them still as a qualifying child and file as Head of Household over single if they meet rules of permanent and total disability. They are eligible as children still regardless of age. Dependent can help you get EITC, Child & Dependent Care Credit. There is something called ABLE where you can put money for disabled children aside for tax free growth. It can't be touched by SSI....
