No, you do not file this as SSI disability. You file form 1099-R as form 1099-R in the retirement section. You must enter the form exactly as it appears and answer some follow-up questions. The code in box 7 of the form and your answers will determine the tax treatment. Retirement disability received before the retirement age (as may be your case) will be taxable as wages until you do reach the retirement disability age. You do not determine the disability.
