My Spouse lives in the UK but has a SSN from when she lived here during college. Can I still do my taxes as married filing jointly?

My spouse lived in the US for a few years to go to college and then she received a work visa.  Later she had to move back to Northern Ireland.  We just got married in December of 2016.
