Estimated Tax payment forms (Form 1040 ES) are to make tax payments on your 2018 income. These payments made will be applied on your income tax return for next year (prepared in early 2019) and are not to be used to make payments for any 2017 taxes due.
A 1040-V (voucher) form would be used to mail in any tax payments made for federal 2017 taxes due.
