You would be better off entering that Form 1099-LTC by hand using the directions below. Answering the questions after the input and assuring it is input correctly will help you determine if any of that 1099 is non-taxable.
To enter that 1099-LTC, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to Federal Taxes
- Click on Wages and Income
- Scroll down to Less Common Income
- On Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, click the start or update button
On the next screen, on Long-term care account distributions (Form 1099-LTC), click the start button
Depending on which boxes of the 1099-LTC are checked, when you work through the interview you are asked to enter information for the items that may be taxable. Box 4 may be checked to indicate the benefits were from a qualified long-term care contract. Answers to the narrative questions will determine if the amounts are taxable or non-taxable. The insurance carrier may also provide information on the policy benefits.
