If you are trying to do a transfer of 2024 data into 2025 software, you can try opening the 2024 data file with the 2025 software--not the 2024 software. The 2025 software can't do that, so you may then get an error notice such as "This is not a 2025 data file, would you like to transfer it instead." (or similar wording.) Another option for transferring (importing) from 2024 is to simply close TurboTax and relaunch it. Or close TurboTax and restart your computer, then relaunch TurboTax. Those simple maneuvers have worked for several in this thread.
Or if you DO indeed want to open the 2024 data file for some reason, here's why you are likely getting Error 190:
Error 190 usually means the *.tax2024 data file has a state return in it, but the 2024 program does not have the state software installed. Therefore, when TurboTax tries to open the 2024 file, it doesn't know how to handle the state information in the data file.
