Get your taxes done using TurboTax

and here I am in 2026 having the issue with TT2025.   My TT2024 ran fine and still does on the same computer.  That proves it's a TT issue!!  I'm so frustrated.   But glad to see I'm not alone.  If this is what we get we should all get refunds.   I'll move to H&R  or TaxAct

OMG ...palm to my head.  I'm banging my head on the wall a year later!!

I fixed it! ... by deleting TurboTax and using FreeTaxUSA instead. This activation problem is unacceptable. And this year the desktop version of TurboTax requires Windows 11, which millions of users don't have or don't want. After 20 years of dealing with issues like this with TurboTax, I'm firing them. Sayonara. Idiots.

due to some complicated transactions, I can't use some of the other free products.  I'll keep searching for a solution. In the meantime I can file extensions by paper.  No other options with time ticking away.  I did ask for a refund through the link given to me by TT support, but so far nothing.  Bought through Amazon so they have to verify everthing in order to give me the refund.  ThenI can only hope a new code will work!!

I am returning this thread in 2026 and still dealing this stupid issue. It was fine until there was a windows update few days ago and triggered the activation issue.

How can this activation issue keep bothering the consumers for multiple years. Can we have a 'recall' /lemon for software product?

As I mentioned last year, if this issue didn't get attention, I was dumping Turbotax this year.

Like someone else here, I also switched to FreeTaxUSA.com. If you're used to Turbotax, it feels familiar, and you can import a pdf of last year's taxes to get started. The software is free and handles simple filings as well as small business, freelancers, contractors, rental income, investments, etc., without having to pay any "upgrade taxes" for any of that. Fed e-filings are also free and state e-filings are $15.99. There's no charge for state support. You can also pay for things like tax pro support and audit defense, but I didn't.

I prepared and filed both my mother's taxes and mine (which includes my small business income and expenses). Two very different use cases --and it was a great experience each time. If you print/save a pdf of your completed Turbotax taxes this year, you can import them as a starting point next year. I highly recommend that approach, especially if you find yourself visiting this thread.

I paid $0 for the software, $0 to e-file (NH has no state income tax), and got a refund. It doesn't get much better than that.

After 2 calls to support that took forever and no fix the last guy gave me a link for an intuit refund.  I thought at least that was something.  WRONG.  Turned in my info and uploaded receipt.  No refund cuz it was purchased over 60 days ago.  Wow.  You just can’t win.  I’ve given up
