You cannot e-file right now. TurboTax will allow you to e-file early (see dates below) BUT your return will sit on their servers until the IRS opens their e-file system. Once you transmit your return you cannot get back or make changes to your return. If your return gets accepted when the IRS opens their system you would need to amend your return to make changes or add any information. An amended return can take 12 to 16 weeks to be processed and must be mailed.

- The Intuit Electronic Filing Center begins accepting and holding ("stockpiling") 2015 tax returns that are final and able to be e-filed.
- The IRS starts processing stockpiled returns on January 18 (subject to change).
