A CP01A is a letter from the IRS each year that includes one's 6-digit IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN) when the IRS has determined that a person has to use one, commonly because of tax-related identity theft. That letter usually comes in late December or early January to those people that the IRS requires its use. Did you get such a letter with an IP PIN?
People who voluntarily opted into the IP PIN program do not normally get the letter, but can retrieve their IP PIN each year in their online IRS account.

You didn't provide much info, so we don't know what else to tell you. If you have more questions about an IP PIN, you would need to report back.
