If the file shows up but you can’t read it, it may be missing a final “close-out” step from the 2024 program. Try this to see if this works.
- Open your 2024 TurboTax software.
- Open your 2024 return and let it run any final updates it asks for.
- Go to File > Save As and save a new copy of the return to your Desktop with a simple name like TEST2024.
- Quit 2024, open 2025, and try to transfer that new TEST2024 file from your Desktop.
