I tried your recommendation and it didn't work exactly how you laid it out I think I was able to fix it.
1) I was NOT able to select override on the blue x'd box....the option seemed to be there when I right clicked, but it was disabled and I could not select it.
2) I did change the checked value in section 7 from 1.Elect Credit or Deduction which results in best tax outcome to 5.Not Applicable. Once I did this I was able to edit the 10,000 in Line 18 to 0.
3) I did then walk through the educations sections again in the Interview but never saw anything related to the $10,000 or $0.
4) I looked at the Student Worksheet again and it still says 0 and I now have no taxable income from the 529 distribution. SO I guess its fixed.
5) Does this approach make sense?
