Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Just fyi, if you're still experiencing the zip code issue, I suggest calling TurboTax and asking to speak to the Resolution Department to get the Desktop version (including MI) for free.
TurboTax was finally able to provide me with a resolution so I could file my taxes correctly (without the zip code issue on the MI Homestead tax credit form). The Resolution Department gave me a free Desktop version (plus MI). I was able to import my data from my online account, and there is no zip code issue on the MI Homestead tax credit form when using the Desktop version.
Overall, this zip code issue has been a royal pain, with a ridiculous amount of time spent/wasted on the phone with customer service reps (over multiple days) and my posts/responses in this Community forum. Extremely frustrating.
Each time I’d call in and spend time explaining and trying all of their steps to hopefully get it to work property, with screen sharing, it wasn’t until my last call on Saturday where I was FINALLY transferred to their Resolution Department (who knew there was such a department!).
Even then, I had to spend quite a bit of time going over the situation yet again, with additional screen sharing, but I was finally offered this solution.
Apparently, a regular CSR can’t simply transfer you to the Resolution Dept… they need to obtain permission first.
Early on, all I really wanted was acknowledgement that there was in fact this issue that needed to be fixed (presumably programmatically)… but after giving it a week and calling in every few days to check in on the status, I was very frustrated that no one could actually confirm that this was known issue that would get fixed (beyond my calling and posting in this forum, and pointing out that you and one other person had reported this exact issue here... at one point on Saturday I was told their IT never "took over" my issue/investigation, meaning no one was fixing it).
If you haven’t reached a resolution yet, I suggest calling and asking/insisting to speak with the Resolution Department… with the knowledge that the free Desktop version (plus MI) is the resolution I had been provided.
It's not ideal, but at least it's something... and now I don't have to waste any more of my time with CSRs. Now, I have to spend more of my time to use the Desktop version and then going through everything (again) with a fine-tooth comb before filing. And to think paid good money for this... for all of my wasted time and now duplicative effort to learn and use the Desktop version.
Hoping this will help you.
