I understand that the interview needs to be completed for accuracy, but the software didn't allow me to do that. It skipped directly from the start to the end of the state section without asking any questions.
Here is the proof of the bug:
TurboTax silently added a penalty to my CA return without any warning or 'Step-by-Step' notification.
I only found it by checking the final summary/form view.
When I manually went back and clicked through the questions (without changing any data), the penalty disappeared.
The software is clearly calculating penalties erroneously before the user even has a chance to provide state-specific info. This isn't a user error; it’s a failure in the program's sequencing
