Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Hi BillM, and thanks for your reply.
First of all, I was indeed wrong about the numbers on the form I downloaded from Arizona website. The 2025 Schedule A worksheets from Arizona and Turbotax both agree, $40,000; $20,000 for married filing separate. (I had a lot of files open that day trying to find the problem and I must have been looking at the 2024 AZ Schedule A. I apologize for that mistake on my part.)
That leaves us with the rejection due to subtraction error, which I can't explain by looking at my Schedule A worksheet. I'm uncomfortable posting my exact figures to a public forum, but here's the gist:
4A is $40,000
5A is an amount less than $40,000 but larger than $10,000
6A is $10,000
7A (5A subtracted from 6A) would then be a negative number. The number filled in on 7A is $0, which was entered on AZ Schedule A, line 7 as zero as well.
That calculation looks right to me, so I don't know what I can change to fix the 'subtraction error'.
I hope this helps; if you need more specific information from my tax forms I would prefer to discuss it privately. Please advise as to what I should do next.
Thanks!
