For Maine, the lines you need on Form 1040ME have changed for the 2025 tax year because of updates to the state’s tax portal and form layout.
Here’s where to look on the Maine Form 1040ME:
- Payments and Withholding: Find Maine income tax withheld on Line 25a. For “Total Payments” (this includes estimated payments and refundable credits such as the Property Tax Fairness Credit), go to Line 26.
- Refund Amount: Check Line 34a for your refund. This shows the overpayment you want refunded to you instead of applying it to next year’s taxes.
