Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Line 19 of the Earlier Year Lump-Sum Social Security Worksheet represents the 2024 refigured taxable Social Security amount, not the current year taxable amount.
The amount reported on Line 21 for additional taxable Social Security benefits is the 2024 amount that should be taxed but has not been. This is then carried to another worksheet to be combined with your current year taxable Social Security benefits. This is the Lump-Sum Social Security Worksheet. Take a look at Lines 27 through 29 of that worksheet.
If you still have concerns that something is not quite right, consider providing a diagnostic copy of your tax data file and someone can take a closer look at your actual numbers to explain it in greater detail. The diagnostic file will not contain personally identifiable information, only numbers related to your tax forms.
If you would like to provide us with the diagnostic file, follow the instructions below and post the token number along with which version of TurboTax you are using in a follow-up thread.
