Maybe.  The IRS will usually match the beginning letters of your last name with your Social Security Number.

If rejected, you can make the correction by following the steps below.

If accepted, you would not need to make any changes you would just verify the spelling for accuracy on next year's tax return.

To edit your Personal Info:

  1. Open your tax return.
  2. Click on “My Info” (left-hand column.
  3. Edit your name.
