Get your taxes done using TurboTax

You can delete the IP PIN that you entered that are incorrect using the steps listed below.  An IRS Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is a 6-digit number that is assigned to eligible taxpayers to help prevent fraudulent federal income tax returns from being filed using your Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

If you are using TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to the IP PIN screen which is under Other Tax Situations. You can edit your IP PIN number there.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Go to your Federal Taxes tab.
  2. Click on Other Tax Situations.
  3. Under the heading Other Return Info, select Start or Update next to Identity protection PIN.
  4. On the Identity Protection PIN screen, answer Yes. Select Add and enter your correct IP PIN in the space provided.
  5. If you need to remove an IP PIN, select the trash icon.
  6. Select Continue, and then
  7. Select Done.
