Why TurboTax is saying the law isn’t “final”

TurboTax 2025 software and website versions use internal modules that need to support IRS Form 4562 (the form for depreciation and amortization). Even though the IRS has released the official 2025 Form 4562 and there are tax law provisions affecting depreciation/amortization under new legislation, the TurboTax interface and calculation engine hasn’t fully implemented that form yet for all scenarios.
In user forums, Intuit employees and customers are reporting that:

The depreciation/amortization section (Form 4562) is not yet available in some TurboTax 2025 products — especially the Home & Business versions for rental property (Schedule E).

Users see messages like “Depreciation and Amortization will be ready by February, but likely sooner” even though it’s mid-February.

Support notes indicate an internal update rollout for that part of the software is coming after February 13, 2026, but timing isn’t certain.

This isn’t because the IRS hasn’t finalized the tax law — rather, the software provider hasn’t finished building the interface and logic for that part of the year’s return yet.
