e-file 2025 returns after I mailed IRS 1310 for my deceased parent. Conflicting TurboTax screens
Parent died in 2025. I am the court-appointed PERSONAL REP (box b checked when TurboTax asked). I indicated her exact date of death and spent several hours entering all of the information required for e-filing.
I received one screen that said i can't e-file because "The B box is checked in Part I of Form 1310, Statement of Person Claiming Refund Due a Deceased Taxpayer."
Then after the Smart Checks were completed, TurboTax says "We Recommend E-filing Your Federal Return"
This is bizarre. I mailed the form 1310 to IRS already to establish a fiduciary relationship and to claim the refund as PERSONAL REP.
Has anyone taken the gamble and e-filed in this situation and what was your experience?
