Get your taxes done using TurboTax
To add to what DoninGA posted, the $6,000 deduction for taxpayers age 65 or older is not part of the Standard Deduction. The deduction applies regardless of whether you itemize or take the Standard Deduction. You must have reached age 65 by December 31, 2025 with a Modified Adjusted Gross Income of $75,000 if single or $150,000 if MFJ to receive the full deduction. The deduction begins to phase out above $75,000 filing single and $150,000 MFJ. It completely phases out for MAGI above $175,000 and $250,000, respectively. If married, you must file jointly to receive the deduction.
