You misunderstand my meaning.
When I purchase the program (either by download or CD) it is mine and on my machine. When I do my taxes all the data is on my machine in my possession.
If you do your work in a remote location it is no longer yours. You no longer control the data or even the access to your data.
If the data is compromised you have no control over what happens to it. Data breaches happen all the time. Keep your private sensitive data, private.
