Warning: Insignificant hardware change invalidates activation
I've been running TT 2025 Deluxe desktop since early November without issue. Yesterday I had the need to remove an unused drive from my PC for a while. The drive was empty and not involved with the OS, program files disk, or even data disk. I spun up TT to enter a newly received 1099, and I was challenged to activate. Huh .. must have something to do with the big update.
I replaced the unused drive and the next time I launched TT, I was required to use yet another activation token. I contacted TT support and said that I understood the hardware change, albeit minor, must have triggered an activation request. They said, "If TurboTax has already been activated on this PC, it will not consume an additional activation when used again on the same system." But it did. I said hey, no issue, but please set my activation count back to 1 since this is in fact the same PC. They refused to do so.
For the record, the terms and conditions (https://www.intuit.com/legal/terms/en-us/turbotax/desktop-license) say only that an activation is required for installation on a different PC.
