Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Late to the party on this one but I wanted to respond for future readers of this post so they don't get fooled by this nonsense. I am a Vine member myself and I don't believe for a SECOND this person got $15k worth of stuff. This whole post seems off, from that dollar amount, that she had "no idea" there was a tax obligation, and that she was "like a kid in a candy store".
A quick overview of how Vine works:
You start at "silver" tier for SIX MONTHS during which time you can order 3 things a day, nothing over $100. Then if you make it to "gold" tier the $100 limit is lifted. So unless this person started in January, I find it hard to believe she managed to get to $15k of stuff. To put this in perspective, in my first 6 months, I ordered the max 3 items at least 4 days a week. I ended up with a "tax obligation" of around $2k from that period. So if she started June or later in the year, no chance.
Then, as far as a kid in a candy shop, the EXTREME majority of the items during "silver" are completely useless and you're not going to find all kinds of stuff to fix up your home. Once you get to "gold" it opens up, but 6 months is a long time to go to get to gold and she doesn't mention that at all.
And to address the "i had no idea i had to pay taxes", there's just no way. Not only do they explicitly inform you, but they make you fill out tax documentation and it has to be approved before you can even look at the available items, much less order anything.
Finally to the "I haven't had to fill out a tax document in years" comment... what, you just quit paying your taxes years ago?? I think you've got a bigger problem with the IRS than just the tax you owe on your Vine orders
