I agree with your point about using something else for year-end planning, but I don't think we should excuse Intuit because of tax changes made in early July. Some of the sections that are still totally missing have no changes due to tax law changes in July. In late 2017, TT did an excellent job getting changes into the software *for the purposes of estimates, not filing* even though there was a much smaller lead time.
But most of all, they are promoting TT now (and did as early as early November) with the assurance "Up-to-date on the latest tax laws". No, it isn't, and even stuff that didn't change isn't ready.
