Win 11 VMs should be viable, I don't know the technical details but others who do have reported getting Turbotax running on VM just fine.
Otherwise yes just switch to some other s/w at this point if you don't want to use online, Intuit's direction is clear and this decision unlikely to backfire at all, desktop s/w is only 1% of Intuit revenues and in decline, probably in it''s final years.
