I believe this issue is a calculation error. There is no option to override the $3000 automatic application of carryover (which is appropriate)... According to IRS, you are supposed to show the $3000 on the worksheet, however when the Carryover worksheet is calculated, it should only include the amount of the $3000 that actually reduced TI.
