Made mistakes on Federal and PA state 2025 income taxes.
I did my federal and PA state income taxes for 2024. I electronically filed both. I got a message back the these returned were accepted. However, the refunds were very high (Fed - $7,183.00, PA State - $12,191.00). This is my first time filing after a full year of retirement. It appears that I did not input my income correctly. The income included my wife’s Social Security, payment from her retirement and a small income from a job. It also included my Social Security, my pension and my retirement. I have been told that I need to file a 1040X and a new PA State return. I am reluctant to file either without some assistance because I am not clear as to what income is taxable and what income is not taxable on either return.
I filed my Fed and State returns on time. I am starting here for assistance but I am considering meeting face to face with a tax professional
What is your recommendation for pursing this problem? I have not heard anything back from the IRS or from the State of Pennsylvania.
