E-file electronic filing deadline with extension if I'm getting a refund? Can I e-file past midnight tonight (like a couple days)?
Hello-
Rushing to get my small business and rental property 1040 filed by midnight tonight. I am expecting a modest refund. I made an additional estimated tax payment with my extension on April 15 just to be sure.
Will I be able to e-file my 1040 via turbotax windows 10 - home and business version - after midnight tonight Oct 15 (since my taxes won't be considered late by IRS with a refund due)? I remember a prior year when I tried to e-file in late October and it wouldn't let me saying efile had closed for the season. But my research seems to indicate I have a week or so past the October 15 e-file/extension deadline to actually e-file through turbotax - and along to the IRS.
Can I rely on this?
my returns are complicated for an individual and I'd prefer to have a little more time rather than rush to get them e-filed by midnight if I don't have to (if turbotax will still transmit my e-filed 2024 return in a day or two more). AND I REALLY REALLY DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO PAPER FILE.
thanks for any info you may have on this!
