Why Turboxtax insists an ITIN is needed for a non-resident alient spouse

For years, I have file married filing separately as my husband is a NR-alien. Turbotax insists he needs a TIN which is NOT TRUE. This prevents me from being able to file electronically. Why doesn't TT fix this error? Frustrating
