ESU is not extended support it's just security patches classified as critical/important to keep your machine secure from those threats until you upgrade, the OS is otherwise unsupported and not fully protected. ESU isn't news and Intuit has been decisioning this for a while with this known, shifting from "may restrict" message most of the year to confirm "will not work"; see if anything changes the next couple of months but it's unlikely they will reverse course at this point and support s/w on an unsupported OS for what will be a small % of their user base and revenue.
