Yes I was asking about incurred medical expenses today being reimbursed later in retirement and how to protect in the event of an audit. That was what the question was about. I'm not sure where you got this information that I was going to only use the HSA for previous medical expenses. It seems fairly implied that I would be using the HSA for future medical expenses too, that's the entire point of the strategy of reimbursing yourself for past ones. So that you maximize your HSA growth for future expenses in retirement.
Correct, that's not what I asked about. Why would I ask about that, it's part of my strategy. My question was about documentation, so I'm not sure why you would automatically infer that I would be not using my HSA for future medical expenses... It seems completely counter-intuitive to what I am trying to do. Why would I maximize the amount of money in my HSA, then not use it on medical expenses...
