I think H&R Block is the only other Tax software that has the desktop option.
Correction - Tax Act also has a download option but expensive
I do not believe the offer a CD any more. Download only.
This year price will also be an issue. Turbotax whether online or desktop has gotten expensive for someone is retired.
I will probably use them or for the the first time use a service like FreeTaxUSA that saves to the "cloud".
As of now a State return only cost about $15.00. Federal is free. But, if you want other services they charge a fee.
