Get your taxes done using TurboTax
At 70+ I deeply deprecate your assertion that things that outlive their usefulness should be dropped.
I had Windows 10 on everything but a pair of ancient Dells that I had kept WinXP for a few old games.
Only one of my systems will run Windows 11 without registry hacks. My electronics bench software will run on Win 10 quite nicely, as well my music software. Two other system are currently dual booting Linux while I convert my C# apps to Python/PySide6.
Microsoft is/are bullies. They should wait until April 15th 2026 to cut off support and allow Intuit time to port Turbo Tax to Linux (Debian based first please)
It takes time to port software to anther OS, and TT is rather complex. Then it will need testing and debugging.
I haven't found any reasonable alternative to Turbo Tax, and I refuse to hang out online doing my taxes live. I consider that extremely high risk. So, I upgraded my Music station to 11 for this year only. Took me a full day to do so and get enough of my Music Software reloaded.
I hope that Intuit big wigs realize that we don;t like bullies and right now it seems they have sold their souls to Microsoft. IMHO Microsoft has probably bought Intuit off like they apparently did the MONO developers making reasonable conversions of C# apps to Linux viable.
Not a happy camper
